1958-01-29 2017-08-12Facebook post from Marcy's daughter Natalie Sperling:
It is with profound sadness that I announce that my mother, Marcy Hauer, passed away peacefully on August 12th, 2017 after battling and gracefully facing cancer for over 3 years. She was surrounded by her family and many friends in her last days and moments on this earth. I feel truly blessed to have had her as my mother and to have felt her unconditional love, support and radiance throughout my life. I feel joy and relief knowing that she is now in heaven and no longer in pain but that doesn't stop the grief and sorrow from creeping in at moments. During these times I am very grateful for my loving husband, family and friends whose love and support continue to amaze me.
Our family had three memorials in her honor; each filled with love, storytelling and humor. Some of the things consistently said about my mother: she was a spiritual warrior, lived a life of service, gave amazing hugs, an extraordinary cook, an intuitive wordsmith, an intimate prayer, had the most amazing and infectious laugh, but most of all the unique presence she possessed of grace, humility, and unconditional love. She faced cancer with a grace that was both awe-inspiring and heartbreaking.
So it is my hope to continue her legacy by urging you all to tell your loved ones how you feel when you feel it. It is my hope to continue her legacy by continuing to lead my life in a way she would be proud; spreading love and gratitude. It is my hope to continue her legacy through encouraging everyone to share your feelings and stories about Marcy Hauer. It is my hope to continue her legacy by urging all of you to remember your loved ones that have passed by sharing memories of them. As my mom and I always used to say to each other - I will continue to love you infinity times infinity, mother and beyond!
